John W. Clement to John Clement, 30 August 1861
Camp Berry, Concord Aug 30, 61
We arrived safely in camp Monday eve and have been going on as usual since then, and expect to go off next Friday, tho' we may not get away till Monday
We have got our uniforms which are a grey frock coat and pants and a queer shaped but very comfortable dark grey cap; we have an overcoat besides. we have all our equipments except the knapsacks and canteens which I suppose we shall get tomorrow when we shall have a Grand review.
I suppose there is no mistake about our letter as they are giving out the letters to put on our caps to day. Capt Wilbur was right it is Co B. I should like to hear from Geo M Perkins the Express man soon. I don't think of anything more to write at present. I dont know where we are going but suppose you will see in the papers, and I will write when we get / to any place to stop—
Yours John W Clement
