John W. Clement to John Clement, 5 March 1863
"Pinckney Island" S.C. March 5. 1863

I send you by mail a sort of diary or memoranda which I have kept the past year.

You will see that it commences Feb 10 1862 and so goes on to the same day 1863. I have duplicated only one day and that was Jan. 1.

Jan 1st 1862 there was a fight at Port Royal Ferry. Jan 1st 1863 I have written "wrote home" "Cool" "No drill".

Jere Weeks continues to get better all the rest are well.

We are enjoying a cold snap just now.

There are a good many stories about our moving but no sure thing

Yours in haste
JWClement
