John W. Clement to John Clement, 10 August 1863
Morris Island S.C. Aug. 10th 1863.
I send you enclosed a copy of the "New South" of last Saturday which will tell you more news than I can there is not much news except that John Thing came back to the Company yesterday all well, he saw Joshua Fieldsend day-before-yesterday he was well.
Capt. Jackson has resigned and started for home, he will probably go in the "Arago" when she sails, but she has been ordered back to the "Head" to wait further orders. I gave him $15.00 from the sale of Horace Hall's effects, he will give it to his Mother when he gets there.
I forgot to say in my last letter that I sent an order by Woodbury Berry for a hat, a pair of boots, 2 shirts, and 2 handkerchiefs. I am in no hurry for them so if / you have not sent them you can wait till he returns or till some time next month any way; but if he is coming right back and the things are ready you can send them along
Yours in haste
J. W. Clement
