Dear Mother
                                                I take this opportunity to write you these few lines hoping they will find you in good health I left Washington Hospital a few days since my wound is doing very well and as soon as I can travel I shall get a furlough I did not get the letter that you sent me but I got the papers and I wish you would send me some more when you write let me know / if any of my Regiment are up there tell me if William Donegan is there I want to know how the boys are getting along how did you spend this fourth I spent mine in my room we get good care here Give my best respects to my Uncle and aunt
