Dear Sister
Your kind misive of the 22d of July was gladly received by me. you spoke about my comeing home. i have made applications for a furlough soon as it comes back i shall be on my way. it takes a week or so for a furlough to go through
i regret that i have been the means of disapointment to you in reference to Aruleia Barber i was merely in sport but dont say any thing to her about it nor to any one else more than to give my love to her. when i get home i will explain all to you / i have not forgotton my old friend William Donegan but think of him very often
my foot is improveing it is almost well i can walk with the help of a cane.
Remember me to Cousin Mary Roberts and Mary Lyle. i will write to them soon as i can make it convenient
Give my love to Mother tell her not to feel anxious about me for i shall try and take care of my self and come home soon as possible Also remember me to Uncle and Aunt. And to all enquiring friends / Hopeing to hear from you again soon i

You will be pleased to learn that i have found a new brother Henry Caton his bed is near my own. he lives at Canandaigua Ontario PO NY. So you see i have found a new relation he like my self is wounded.
