Frederick Stoughton Buttles
Frederick Stoughton Buttles was born around 1831 in Pennsylvania to Cephus and Nancy Buttles. His father was a farmer who owned $800 of real estate by 1850. The family moved to Milwaukee, Wisconsin, around 1843. By 1850, he was working as a clerk, and he owned $400 of real estate. By 1860, he was working as a tinsmith. He married Jennette Yarwood on December 12, 1866, and they had at least four children: Minnie, born around 1867; Stella, born around 1873; Mabel, born around 1876; and Ethel, born around 1883. His wife died in 1909. He was hit by a street car in June 1913, and he died in Milwaukee on June 5, 1913.
