Dear Mother
I seat my self this day to answer your welcome letter whitch i received on the 25th and was glad to hear ove you all being well i am well but i have a very sore hand i got it hert on our march but it is getting better i received all the money that you said you had sent and i was very glad to get it i am very thankful to ant mary for that dolar she gave to you to send to me we have had a long march / and a hard one to we left Pulaski on the 13th and went to alabama and a round to Columbia and from that to Pulaski where we and the regiment rested two days and left a gain for [faded] they have 12 days rashions with them this time i am stoped here til my hand gets better we suffered a good deal on our march for the want of water we traveled 7 and 8 miles with out a drop of water and the dust flying so hard i couldent see the man in front of me we was on the march 12 days and traveled from 20 to 30 miles a day and had to ford all the creeks and rivers we came to and that was a good many / the boys all stood it very well they was a good many wore out their shoose and had to travel the last day in their bare feet you want to know how Mr Harvy is geting a long he is doing well i am expecting the regiment back here in a fiew days as i hant mutch to write this time i will close hoping to hear from you soon
