Dear mother
               I seat my self to answer your letter whitch i received on yesterday and was very hapy to hear from you you say you hant received any letter from me sense i left Nashville i dont no what can be the reason for i have wrote three letters to you sense i came to this place and if you hant got them i dont know what is the reason i have never got a letter from Walter sense the Battle at fredricksburgh the reason i cant tell it would do me good to get a letter from him i have wrote to him but get no answer i received a letter from Manda on yesterday and / glad to hear from them we are stil at Murfees Boro but i dont know how long we will stop here the weather here has been very cold for some time and we had some snow here tow we are quartered in a house now and we are very well contented if it lasts they is a fiew of our company sick but i think it is on account of their exposure on the battle field we have only 25 men in our company fit for duty my health is very good Manda said in her letter you had some notion of sending me a box of grub you need not do it for i wont never get it for it will be opened in Nashville and all the grub sent to the wounded and any thing else i dont want / except postage stamps please send me some stamps in your next letter i think Alie is very busy that she cant write me a fiew lines now and then it dose me good to get a letter from that part of the country i tell you mother i would like to be at home to see you all but as it is it cant be helped i would like to know what William Sproulle had to tell you when you was their the last time i saw him he was very low i hope he will soon be well a gain i want you to tell me a little of it in your next letter if you please and tell me where david faulk is if you dont get this letter i will direct the rest of your letter to Leechburgh 
 
i know you take it hard a bout Daniel i hope you wont fret your self a bout him it is hard on all of us but god nows the best i hope you will get this letter soon [several lines stricken] to know but for my sakes dont leave any person see this letter now mind this please burn this letter when you are through reading it i hope theas fiew lines will find you all enjoying good health and able to write soon  yours truly Abram Kipp
