Dear Mother
                        I seat my self this beautiful morning to answer your kind letter whitch i received on yesterday and was hapy to hear from you all being well my health is very good now my throat is well a gain i had a letter from walter a fiew days a go he was well he says his time will be up in six weeks but he has only four weeks to stay by this time you say that david reed told charley that he was expecting Johns and me home it is a mistake some how for furlows here is a very scarce thing for my part i hant herd any thing of us going yet but if they do get to giving furlows / i think i will try and get one and come home to see you but i hant mutch idea of getting a furlow in the army of the cumberland for the men is needed here at all times i dont see how all the troops on the Patomack can get furlows when ever they want them it ant the case here we are stil in town and we are expecting a nother hard battle here i want you to give me all the perticulars a bout the draft in your next letter alie tells me a great tale in her letter something a bout a conversation betwheen hen Hawk and some person else but i cant make it out to save my life i it is interesting if i could make out what it is do you see her and tell me the same thing in your letter for i am anxious to now what it is i could make out all the rest of her / letter but that and i cant make it out now i dont mean to make alie mad but i cant make it out we was on review on yesterday and General Rosecras says our regiment is as good a regiment as ever he saw so mutch for the 78th i hant hurd mutch from bill Sproulle for some time tell me in your next letter where he is i want you to tell me if you think Walt will inlist a gain i have been writting to him to go home when his time up i think he will they was a good many of our troops went out to day for a fight i dont now how it will come of i think they wont be mutch fighting on the Patomack til the nine month mens time is out i supose billy and Giny was anxious to see me comeing home i now gust how it was as well as if i had of been their 
 
i dont think it is hardly worth while for me to say any thing a bout the coperheads at home i now you have heard the sentiments of the army here a bout them i most forgot to tell you i have subscribed for a paper for six months and paid for it and i have it sent to you it is a weekly it is called the nashville weekly union so you can see all that is going on in tennessee you will get it evry week well mother as i hant mutch to write i will close hoping to hear from you soon
