Dear Mother
                                                            I seat my self this evening for a nother time to answer your kind and welcome letter whitch i received to day and was sory to hear ove almira being sick but i hope by the time this letter reaches you she will be well a gain. i am happy to tell you my health is very good and we are stil in Murfreesboro. wel my dear mother you want to know why i talk so hard a bout the copperheads mother if i could only talk face to face with you i could satisfy you that i am doing right i have had a dear brother killed in this unholy war and then to think that the copperhead will incourage the rebles to cary on the war whitch might cause my self to fall or walter on their account i could kill the last one of them and think i was doing no sin you think i am wicked for this but if i could only talk to you on this subgect i know i could convince you i am right if Walter or my self should fall you have no person to blame for it but the coperheads for if they had of kept quiet the rebles would of give it up before this this i know to be a fact no person knows what incouragement they have given the rebles but the soldier in the field and i am one of them and if i live to return home whitch i hope i will and all of my frind soldiers with me whitch is the only true friends i know i can trust. now i hope you wont think i am so wicked when you read this letter and study over it the boys are all in good health in our company except George tailor he has his leg strained so he ant fit for duty D Shearer J Reed J Boyle is in good health also. well mother i think by your talk you are a fraid when walter gets home he will be drafted now you / need not be a fraid of that for they cant draft him according to the last act congress passed you think you cant stand to see walter coming home without Daniel i know it will be hard but i hope you will loock over it. i was glad to hear of alie starting to school to Leechburgh i hope she will learn fast well mother you want to know what the dispute is betwheen me and ban well for one thing he hant used me right and other things i wont mention now but when i get home i shall tell you all a bout it. well mother i dont know how soon we may have a battle here. i hant had a letter from walter for three weeks but i am expecting one evry day. well mother when i read your letter it made me feel very bad when you sayd that might be the last letter ever you would write to me i felt very bad but it might be the case but i hope not i still live in hopes when i think of walter getting home so soon it incourages me a great deal i hant mutch to write this time give my love to all the folks write soon as possible
