Dear Mother
                          I seat my self this morning to answer your kind letter whitch i received yesterday evening mail and was hapy to hear ove you all being well my health is good and we are now six month men from to day it cant pass a way any two soon for me we are expecting to march of ove the mountain on to morow to goin our brigade it is thought we will have a long and hard campaign this spring i do think so my self mother you speak of almira going to school in place of lidea i will leave this to your self whitch is the best i will pay for eather one ove their schoolen if they will go / now you can send whitch ever you think best i read a letter from David Faulk last night that one of our boys got they expect to get out in may he dont dont seem to see the veteran survice that is my fix you want to know who is commander our old colonel came up on the mountain last night and took command of the regt and i never heard sutch cheering in my life they boys went most wild when they saw him coming they cheered him for a half mile before he reached the top the boys herd he was coming and went out on the bluff to meet him the other commander dident show his face a tall we are all right now i am glad to hear ove the men volenteering so fast at home and it will be mutch better for them to do so 
 
i received a letter from Kate Kennedy a fiew days a go they was all well except her father and he had been very sick but is getting better she sends their love to you all i did not get them socks you say you sent to me i may get them yet i dont know any thing that i need at presant that you need send me i am very thankful to you for your kindness as i have nothing of any interesting to write will close hoping to hear from you soon a gain
