Dear sister as I received a letter from you to day I will now try and answer it the way I got it was Don sent it in one that he wrote to me I was very glad to hear that you was all well and hope this may find you still enjoying the same blessing as for myself I am very happy to inform you that I am on the gain and in a fair way to be all right in a few days I can say that I have not felt as stout in a great while as I do at the present time but then you know it would not do to let every one know it if they did I might be the looser in a long run I have come to the very solid conclusion that No. 1 is the one to look after. you say keep up good spirits O yes ill do that you know and once in a while i get some spirits that goe down and helps to keep the others up before I / came up here I had my regular wine or brandy from three to six times a day but now I get ale three times a day that dont go very bad it is about all the medicine that I take now once in a while I get a dose of powders of some kind you say that if it was in your power you would come and see me well now I can tell you what it is if you could come just as well as not I would not have you come here for the best farm in wisconsin it is no place for a girl like you or any one else that thinks any thing of them selves if I get down very sick I shall certainly write and let you know but there is no danger of it for I am getting along first rate a hem yes well just give my best respects to Mr and Mrs Clinton Childes and tell them I wish them much joy. I see that Clint is in for union. I suppose that you have heard of the fight at helena on the fourth well the rebels got a good thrashing and the news is to day that they are fighting there again this morning they sent up here after two gun boats / if they are I think they will get served the same as they did on the fourth well adeline I dont think of any more to write this time onely I think I shall get a chance to work in the druggstore in this hospital
