Andrew T. Goodman to Adelaide B. Goodman, 30 April 1863

Dear Dot.
I have delayed answering your last kind favor in hopes of being able to let you know something of my case. I have heard nothing of it yet although nine days have elapsed since it was tried. Clark is in Washington endeavoring to be reinstated. I trust he will not succeed. Major Truefitt's name has gone to Harrisburg for promotion. I fear we will move before my sentence comes down. This would be decidedly unpleasant, not to know whether I am in the service or not. I have been looking anxiously—I have not the slightest doubt of the result. I feel I am dismissed but can be reinstated in the course of a week or ten days time. I merely scratch this off to night to let you know what I am about and why you do not hear more frequently. Your last letter was a nice one. Let me have some more like it. / Should I be dismissed I will write you from Washington, where I will have to remain a day or two to get my accounts straightened up and get my two months pay. You may therefore hear from me then in a few days. If we move I will write you. Give my love to Uncle Hen and Mother. Kiss little ones over and over for me and believe me to be as ever

Yours devotedly
in haste
Andy
