I am directed by the Brig. General Commanding to furnish you a copy of the end't made by Maj. Gen'l Foster Com^dg Dept. of the South, on your report of the expedition from Baldwin to Magnolia (Aug. 15-19) via Cedar Key's R.R.

"of raiding and not of fighting. The mention

"of his personal staff for the above service is simply

"ridiculous."

"I desire the above remark to be sent to Col. Noble thro'
