Isabella J. H. Horn (maiden name: McLeod) was born on November 20, 1825, in Marlboro District, South Carolina. By 1850, she was living in her brother John’s household in Bennettsville, South Carolina. She married Daniel Alexander Horn around 1855, and they had at least four children: Daniel, born around 1857; Nannie, born around 1859; Lollie, born around 1862; and Dessausure, born around 1866. They lived in Cheraw, South Carolina, until the late 1850s, when they moved to Thomas County, Georgia. Her husband worked as a farmer, and by 1860, he owned $5,000 of real estate and $18,000 of personal property. A decade later, he owned $11,920 of real estate and $2,120 of personal property. She died in Thomas County on September 7, 1875.
