Dear Wife
I take my in hand to let you know how I am I am enjoying good health and hope that you are the same. I received your letter yesterday and was glad to get it though it was short it was very welcome and helped to pass some gloomy hours my leg is well now Sarah was in camp Sunday with Shrivers from your affectionate consort William Rees this letter has been wrote in ten minutes /
I seen Mrs evans in town monday when I was on guard her daughter was in camp yesterday morning with martha Meredith from freeport and William Llewelen the people are coming in yesterday and today to see us leaving but they have been disappointed. I would like to see you very much the time passes very slow the days are sad without you the nights are long and drear and my heart is nearly breaking to think I have left my dear / I tried to get a pass monday night but could not and last night too. there is so much talk of leaving and no sign of it We were to leave yesterday at three oclock in the afternoon that was in the paper but we are not going off today either if we go tomorrow. Some try to say that we are not going this week I think if we do not go this week we will not go at all till spring anyhow
I must bring my letter to a close for I am in a hurry because Chambers Sanderson is going home now and I want him to take this along with him Jake rock is in the guardhouse for getting drunk i am sorry you could not get the money I do not want any for I have got enough from you I have robbed you already I do not want you to send any more to me do what you please with it
