Sarah Angeline Wheeler was born on July 28, 1843, in New York to James B. Wheeler and Malinda Willard. Her father was a farmer who owned $11,454 and $1,620 of personal property by 1860. She grew up and attended school in Cameron, New York.
She married James Morton in the early 1860s, and they had at least three children: Nellie, born around 1864; Frank, born around 1867; and Eva, born around 1871. They lived in Bath, New York, and her husband worked as a wagon maker. By 1870, they owned $1,500 of real estate and $500 of personal property. They moved to Union City, Pennsylvania, in the 1870s before returning to Bath in the early 1900s. Her husband died in the 1910s, and by 1920, she was living in her daughter Eva’s household in Evansville, Indiana. She died there of “chronic endocarditis” on July 30, 1935.
