My Dear Brother it has been a great while since I heard from you I am now in Benton Barracks once more and I thought that I would write a few lines to you and let you know that I am well and hope thes few lines will find you the sam Creon I want you should write to me as soon as you get this and tell father and Mother to write to me wee got news yesterday that Lieu John J Marks was dead he died with the feaver tell Mrs Wade that Benton is still a prisner in Macon Georga but I am in Barra Benton Barracks
I have not received any pay since the first of Jan but I think wee will be payed off soon Creon I enjoy myself very well and hope you do the same you must be a good Boy and try and help pa all you can tell Wesley and his Wife to write to me tell Adie to write to me and tell me how she spent the 4 of july and I can tell you how I spent it in Cairo and had nothing to eat all day onley a very little in the morning and I thought what a nice time I had a year ago I have not benn Homesick a day since I left home altho I should like to see you all very much there has benn a great many of the Men died with / nothing else but Homesickness when wee was in Macon Georgia I want you all to remember me in your prayres
