Edward W. Stacy to Nathaniel Stacy, 14 December 1862
Fredricksburg Dec 14th 1862
Dear Father
The mail is going out and I have a few minutes to write. We have not been in the fight yet. We crossed the river friday and staid in the city that day and night. Saturday we went out about a mile and lay behind a hill all day supporting a battery but the battery was not attacked so we did not have any occasion to fight. This morning (Sunday) we have were ordered back to the city where we now are. It is now about four or five P.M. / We do not know whether they have got any work on hand for us or not there has not been much fighting going on today
Yours in haste
All well
E. W. Stacy
