Edward W. Stacy to Nathaniel Stacy, 4 February 1863
General Hospital near Aquia Creek
Feb 4th 1863
Dear Father
I suppose you are anxiously waiting to hear from me. I do not know as I can tell you much about my sickness as I have been out of my head as usual when I am sick. Last night I received your letter of the 23d and Mothers of the 21st. I found the two dollars all right. It came in just the right time for I had got most out of money I do not know whether the regiment has been paid off or not. I have not seen any / of the rest of the 36th here in the hospital. But I suppose you want to know how I am. I am getting better now. My appetite is getting to be good so that I can eat almost anything. I have quite an appetite for apples. I can buy them here 7 seven for 25 cts. I do not hardly know how long I have been sick but it seems like queer times I have been through. I suppose I have had a kind of a fever. But I am getting to be quite smart again.
Mother writes me some very interesting news. I should sooner have thought of / Dr Dows leaving town that Dr Howe. I suppose they will have to have some other doctor in his place.
But I guess I will not write much more now. I am much obliged to you for sending the money.
The nurse thinks I had better have my letters directed here. I will give you the direction. So goodbye
From your son
E. W. Stacy.
