Golconda Illinois April 24th 1862
Dear Cosin Mary
I wil now inform you that we are all well at present pa received your letter a few days ago and we wer glad to hear that you wer all well and I for the first time write you a few lines never having writen to you before I hardly know what to say to you but I will fill it out with something I am going to school now I am glad that your brother returned from the army safe and I would have ben glad if it had ben so that he could have come and seen us try to perswade your pa to come and sea us I would be so glad to sea you all you must come and se us it had ben so long sins we got a letter from you it has been two years sins we got a letter from Granpa Wood it is a very wet spring it rains nearley all the time you must write to us as soon as you can we are glad to hear from you at any time tell your brothers and sisters to write to But remain your affectionate Cousin
