Dear Friend
I hardley know wheather to write to you again or not for it has ben so long since you answered one of my letters that I think that you fail to get them for I certainly think that you would not treat me so if you could avoid it I am afraid that you are wounded or sick or some other thing hapened you for I cannot hear from you at all I have not seen any of your people for some time for I have not / ben away from home to see any one for I have had so mutch work to do since father comenced harvesting that I have not had a day to rest my own self you do not know how they get the harvesting dun hear it is the old men and the little boys and the girls and the old wimen does the cooking this morning Jane Clayton was driving to cut the oats and charley was raking this is the way we have to do in war times but we will not think this any thing if we could have peace by having twice this I would be glad to spend my life if it would bring this country to what it was four years ago well Dickey I could write you a long letter if I thought you would get it but as it is so uncertain I will close by giving you my best wishes and I hope you are well

PS Well Dickey since I have written my letter I have ben thinking that you would like to hear from the 80 they are in there at dalas and a great many of them have gone to their long homes Riley Jones is wounded and he came home more than a week ago Sol cut his foot the tenth of June and he has ben in the hospital ever since and Jacob gand has ben wounded and Ned Starkey was killed at dalton and Alf young was wounded with the same ball that killed Budda Wells we can only wait and see how it will end and who will be spared Dickey we can only trust in the Lord and ask him to spair your lives and his will be dun not ours so good by Dickey
