McDonal (?) to Mary A. Adams, 24 November 1862

Mary
I recd yours of 22nd inclosing fifty dollars, though unexpected, still came opportunely. I am raising another company. My expenses here have been heavy, for beyond what my pay was worth, I kept Dave here last, to take out some flour coffee and sugar for you but in going to the commissary this morning, that I cannot get coffee because there is none in the commissary and flour has risen to $23, so that I thought nothing could be saved by purchasing at that price. I will however send you some coffee just as soon as it arrives at the commissary I have learned nothing definite about my trial yet, but I'm certain that I shall know all about it by next mail. I hope you are all well; I shall make every effort to go out there in ten or fifteen days. I will write you by next mail at length.
Yours Truly
McDonal W.
