Leonidas J. Storey to Mary A. Adams, 25 February 1889

At the request of Dr Hendricks I write you relative to the proposed suit for the Catherine Arnold [?] of land I will state frankly that the chances are against your recovery. The debts may have the statute of limitations on you for the most if not all the land. My impression is that the greater portion of the land sold by the original occupant & thereby severed from the part held in possession has not been occupied / ten years in this I may be mistaken.

I believe that your name in the suit would aid greatly in the chances to recover. Jurors are more enclined to give ear to the immediate heir than to one occupying the position of Dr H. and if any satisfactory arrangements can be made between you and him to allow the suit to be brought in your & his name I think the chance is much better for a recovery, but as I said before the plea of limitation / will of course be made by the defendants and I am affraid they will beat you in that plea however there is a chance for you even in that matter

Yours &c
L J Storey
