Dear Aunt
I rec'd your kind and comforting letter. To-day is thanksgiving-day. I feel as if I had very little to feel thankfull for this year as I did last thanksgiving just after Papas death I do feel thankful that three dear Brothers are spared to me yet. Pete's death was very sudden and unexpected, last Saturday two weeks ago he came home from up town with fevor. last Saturday a week he died 630 P.M. hemorhage of the bowels / caused from swallowing a three cornered piece of glass. think he swallowed the glass some time this last spring. I dident know any thing of it untill after his death. About two months ago if you remember when we were having such flood and rain he (Pete) went fishing the river rose very suddenly and he was caught in a tree out in the river, layed there 43 hours without clothes or food; some of his friend made a boat and went to him; since then he hasent been very well, though he was at work as usual. Doctors say the glass perhaps / would never have hurt him if he hadent hapend to that accident, such strain on his nerves, his stomach being empty caused the glass to cut his bowels causing hemorhage. The last week he couldent eat any thing except drink little milk. Friday before he died saturday he had but very little fevor, thought he would soon be up again not one ever thought of the glass untill after his death John came, but to late only for the funeral. I cant tell you my dear Aunt how I feel but wish I could see you all. Rond and myself are the only ones at home now. Polk / seemed so restless we persuaded him to go away for a few days; I feel very uneasy about him as he wasent well when he left.
I would like very much to come to see you all sometime soon; I am afraid to leave home, Rond and Polks health or either one very good. would be glad to have you all visit us this summer.
I have been clerking in a drygoods store dont know how long I will continue work. I must close. write real soon much love to all your niece Fannie A
