Sis. Mary,
I have once more received a few lines from you and was very glad to hear from you and that you are all well. I am well. the same as usual. I can eat all that I can get and grow fat. The boys say that I look the healthyest of any one out of fifteen that tents with me. I know one thing that is that I feel pretty well. We have been out on review this P.M. We have monthly inspections and review evry month
yesterday William Doolittle and my self went down to Fairfax Seminary and to some of the forts the seminary is a very nice brick building. It is used for a hospitle for the sick soldiers I saw Merrett Hutchkiss there. he has been quite sick. But is getting quite smart again We saw Horace Huchkiss he is in Co. C. first Ct. Battery Edd Wiley came into Camp Convalescent yesterday from Harpers ferry Hospitle he looks rather thin but he says that he feels pretty well now. the report is that we are exchanged but I dont hardly believe / it there has been so many reports. If we are we shall be to the Regt in less that a week. But you can address the same as you have and they will to the Regt. if we do leave here I got a letter from Henry and one from Uncle Wm to day he spoke about the hat. I was thinking when I wrote to him to send it to me that I left it in my trunk but since I received your letter to day it come into my mind that I left it with you. If I had thought of it at the time I should have sent to you to have / you send it to me. But I have concluded not to have it sent as it is getting so late in the season, and I drawed a new one to day from U. Sam.
I receive the dollar all right and thank you very much for it I will make it right the first time that we are paid off, which I think will be before long Greenback is all the money or nearly all that is used in these parts and I thought at first that I should have to send it back to you. But I finaly got it broke at the sutler. My paper is full and I must close excuse such bad writing for it was about dark when I commenced this letter and I have written like smoke direct as usual my love to Julius Marion and little Sis and all the rest of the folks that cares anything about me
