George P. Hunt to George P. Hunt Jr., 8 December 1884
Chief Engineer's Office,
Navy Yard, New York,
December 8th 1884
Dear George,
I send you a dollar bill for your birthday. I did not know what you wanted most, and I thought Mama would know best what to do with it. So you and Mama can think it over what to buy. I suppose you will soon have a chance to use your sled, look out and don't run against the cars, or stone posts.
Did you have as good a time in Worcester as you expected? / I hope none of the Munroe children will get that dyptheria. When does your school close for the holidays?
Tell Frank he must be sure and give you eight good spanks for me next Wednesday morning. Am sorry I cant be home to give them to you myself.
Remember me to Mr and Mrs Howson, Mrs and Miss Bates, Mrs Gooch and Miss Gooch, & everybody else.
Hope you are having a pleasant time. Much love from
Papa
