Dear Hunt
Your numerous welcome letters have been coming to hand for some time even away out in S[?], and I am ashamed to say I havent had time to answer them. I had the pleasure of seeing your wife in N.Y. who done me the honor to call on me. I am well and sound as a dollar, and proud to have the good opinion / of yourself and the rest of the Staff Corps at post the Line have been hard on Dannenheim and making him do things he would not dare to do, but I am on top of the heap and have the Secretary and the whole country at my beck and dont give a damn for the whole of them.

I hope you are well and happy as you well can be on board ship.

You will please remember me to Fletcher, Hall & Co and thanking you for the / proposed 40 numbers as one of them would have to come from you, I am yours Faithfully
