Edward Brown
Edward Brown was probably living in Mississippi by the early 1860s. In May 1862, he received a commission as lieutenant colonel of the 36th Mississippi Infantry. The regiment took part in the Vicksburg campaign, the Atlanta campaign, and the Battle of Nashville. Union forces captured him at Vicksburg on July 4, 1863, but he was eventually exchanged. He fell ill in May 1864 and spent several months recovering. He was captured again at Blakeley, Alabama, on April 9, 1865, and imprisoned in New Orleans, Louisiana. He received a parole on May 10, 1865. He died sometime after the war.
