Dear Uncle
You must not think that we have entirely forgotten you by not writing But it has only been neglect in us to do so. Dear Uncle we have had some verry exciting times since you left here First we had the news of our glorious victorys then came the awful news of the murder of our noble and beloved President, witch was one of the awfulest crimes ever known in history. I neve in my life saw sutch morning as thare was for Abraham Lincoln every house in Wilmington as well as in Philadelphia had some signs of morning for him whos name shall pass into history as the Savor / of his Country. Dear Uncle I supose all of your boys have returned from the war safe and I should be verry hapy to open correspondence with them You can tell whare to direct thare letter to, and if thay will write I assure you thay will receive a speedy answer
Uncle I was in the country about a week a go and every thing looks promising for a large crop this year. Wheat is verry low on here corn is selling at 75cts a bushel and every thing else in proportion Every thing is getting verry cheap except clothing witch keeps up very high. Aunt Mary keeps verry well and sends her love to you and would like to hear from you soon All of the family is very well Uncle Saml has got a fine lot of boys / and they are of great help to him now and he has got plenty for them to do Dear Uncle now as I am very bussy I will have to bring my short letter to a close hoping this may find you and your family enjoying good health as this leaves leaves all of our family and your friend
