It is now about 1 oclock and I guess I will try to write a little as I have not written for a few days. I am well and getting along first rate I was somewhat surprised this morning at seeing Selden come into our barrack. he got here last night in the night but did not know that I was here He is in No 12 barrack so you will know where to direct to him. He is not going to write to you to day I guess for he wants me to tell you what nomber his barrack is. We had a good dinner to day of bacon and potatoes and soft bread. This Island is a very pleasant place. There is no snow / on this Island at all but it rains a good deal so it is muddy It is fair today and the sun shines warm The Vienna boys are all well and contented. How is Charles Morrill now days is he at home &c he said if I went away from home that he should go too I suppose Aunt Mary is up to our house now sitting on the bed We have not been paid any thing yet but we are expecting it every day we have signed the pay rolls and all the fixings
I must finish my letter and go down and see Sell
I am in No 15 & he is in No 12 so we are not far apart
cant think of much more to write this time so I shall have to stop
