It is now 9½ o'clock in the evening, and all gone to bed except [?] she sits before the fire warming her feet geting ready to go. Your aunt M lays at the foot of my bed &c. we are all well at home. The family seams very small since Senden and Ferdinand both went away. I suppose that you have heard that Ferd had enlisted in an infantry Co. to go into the 14 Reg which is at Savannah. I wrote to you last week who had enlisted from this town but as I learn from you letter last Friday you had been transered to an / other hospital perhaps you did not get it, I put in a $1.00 bill and 3 or 4 postage stamps, for fear you did not get it I will state that I have enlisted 8 out of the 11 which we had to get to fill our quota. they ar Selden Ferdinand Fred Whittier Henry Whittier Anthony Little Noah Hoyt Richard Wills and Ephraim Tebbetts. We have had our town meeting today the officers are as follows T. C. Norris Clerk H. Dowst T. C. Norris and Moses Brown Select-men L. Morrll Treasurer Lewall Eaton E. E. Davis and Fred N. Woods S.S. Committee Jacob S. Woods Constable and Collector. They voted to rays $4000.00 toward pay soldiers bounty which will bring the tax more than as much again / as it was last year, which will bring my tax about ($85) eighty five dollars I got a letter from Selden tonight dated last Friday he expected to start that night from Portland he expressed his state bounty home it cost $1.00 and I got a letter from Ferd last Wednesday dated Monday befor, he was on Galloups Island Boston harbour. I do not know how long he will stay there. I will let you know where to direct to them when I find out. I was glad to learn that you was getting stronger hope you will continue to gain untill you get entirely well. I gues you are rather tired of staying in the hospital are you not? Do not be too smart and get to your Reg too soon
I do not think of much more to write and it getting late. You had better let me know if you want money sent for you are moving so much I do not know whether it is best to send it or not. Can you not get an Officer to put their name onto the back of your letters then there would not be but 3 cts to pay here on it now it is 6 cts I think I will put in some stamps in to this if nothing else
Write as often as ever and just how you get along.
Henry Smith has sold his place to Aunt Sally Little for $400 and Smith has bought the Chick place on the mountain. My sheet is about full so I will bid you good night and retire
