As I have a few spare moments I will write you a little. I am well and contented and the other boys are well and get along first rate. we have a good time most of the time. When we have to carry wood we dont like it very well. the Co has to lug wood from the schooners that bring it in three hours or so a day. The Co dont all go at a time they leave 20 or 30 men in the Barrack and I happen to stop in this time When I do go I dont hurt myself at all. some of the boys will shurk and not do any thing, but I most always do a little.
I dont have much news to write for there is not much going on here. I think it is strange that I dont get a letter from home once in a while I have not had but one yet and some of the boys have got 6 or 7. this is the fourth letter that I have written to you I sent ten dollars in my last one so I hope you will get it.
I cannot think of any more this time. I will put in this picture for Granville it is one that I had given to me so I will send it to him
Yours &c
