Galloups Island
Boston Harbor March 19th 65
It is now about 2 O'clock and I will try and write a few lines to let you know how I get along and how I am &c. I am well and get along first rate and all the rest of the boys are the same the Vienna boys I mean for the some of the boys are sick of the measles and are in the hospital I guess there is about 6 or 7 of them. We dont know when we shall go away and I dont suppose we shall know more than five minutes before we start. We dont know but what we shall go this afternoon for / there is a transport somewhere in the Harbor about here they say but we are not sure of going in it. some say we shall not go for a week but I think we shall go soon I should like to hear from home once more before we go I want to hear from the many that I sent. Noah Hoyt and Fred Whittier and Wills sent their money over to Boston by the Lieut and he sent it by Express. Henry Whittier and I put our money in the Express office here on the Island
that is the reason why Hoyts Will's Fred's got home first I sent the receit home in a letter and ten dollars in an other letter and I have not heard from / any of it yet.
you can write to me just the same and if we go the letter will follow us I guess. I dont know where the 12th Regt is now for the report is here that it is moved up to Virginia some say at City Point and some say it is in the Valley. do you hear any thing about it I cant write any more now and if I do you cant read it
