Frederick B. Allen to Henry Dowst, 21 April 1865
City Pt. Apl. 21st 65

Mr. Dowst
Your son Selden feels hardly able to write to you just now and has asked me to do it for him. He is sick at present with a bad diarrhoea and cough. He caught cold before he got over the measles and that gave him the cough. He has been here now 7 days but expects to be removed to Washington soon, where he hopes to feel better. He is in good hands and will have the very kindest care.

Yours truly
Fredk B. Allen
