Augusta May 10th 1865
 
Father I came at E thanans and he has just got your letter of May 10th was glad to hear that Senden was no worse. I feared it would be worse, but it is hard now. I came here yesterday and reported to Maj Littler and he says I shall get my discharge. I also recd a letter from the Surgeon at Philadelphia to report at Augusta
 
            I have got a pass and am going home to morrow. I have got a pass to await farther orders. I shall wait untill they get my Descriptive List and then I shall be notified and shall be down and be mustered out. You nead not wory about home for I am going home and going to work. you stay untill Selden is better. I will do as well as I can. I can work I guess and do as much as the poorest of folks any way
 
            we got a letter from Ferd Sunday he was well says he was never better. all was well at home when I left
