It has been some time since I have written you a letter so I will try to write a little to day I was in Brunswick the last time wrote to you. I dont know as that ever went away from there. If it went at all it did not go untill two or three weeks after it was written for there was no way to send it only by the boat and that only come in once in 2 or 3 weeks to bring us rations.

The last letter that I / wrote was in Augusta we started from Augusta the last day of may and marched to Savannah in 8 days and stopped in Savannah one day then took the boat for Brunswick and got there the 10th of June. the first day of July we started for this place and got here the 6th day. we took the boat at Brunswick and came up the Altamaha river as far as Doctorstown two days sail (there we spent the fourth of July) the 5th we took the cars and after riding about 50 miles a day for two days we got to this place

I got a letter from home the day we stopped in Savannah and another at Blackshire 50 miles from here where we stopped all night it had the $2.00 in it you told me in that one how much money you had sent and I have got it all. The water melons are as plenty here as pumpkins are at home almost, and full as large
The night we stopped at Blackshire Station I and Hen Whittier went out and found a nigger that give us 5 melons they were so large that we could not lug only two apiece so we eat one and brought four to camp honey is plenty here. we can / nice strained honey for 10 cts a pound

there was 5 companies came here but one has gone away this morning another is going away tomorrow morning there is going to be two companies stop in this place it is thought that Co F will be one of them. I forgot to tell you whether I was sick or well I have got cold a little but am not sick it is getting better now. I have been very lucky so far have not been excused from duty but two or three days and then I had the jaundice verry light the other Vienna boys are all well
the cars run by here every day from Doctorstown to Thomasville

It is the hottest weather here that ever I expected to see I wish you could stand out in the sun a few minutes and see how it comes down the sand will blister any bodys feet to go out bare footed
