Dear Cousin
A few lines to let you know we are all & hope this will find you better then when you wrote I wish thay would send you home here to Augusta thay are filling up the City Hospital with sick & wounded I wish was your luck to come it may be. I have no news but Army news & suspose you have that as soon or before we do here in Maine. Ferd & Ephraim think thay are all rite foolish boys thay would not here to anyone so let them go it thay will wish thay had before thay get out of it. Vienna has got all but three of her man on the last call tha will get all of the men here in Maine without drafing that is the most of the places will. I am glad to see it for Volenteers is worth more then drafted men & I dont like to see men go that dont wornt to for their is enough who is wilen to go but those who does not go aught to pay those who does go but some is not willing to do eather but dam Lincen but such men are fast disappeering from our midst we had our city election here last Monday we had no oppersition at all J W Paterson was chosen Maor their was not fifty votes threw aganst him he will make a good Maor Vienna has had her town meeting Morrill is Tresr of the town but your Father was put in place of Morrill I saw Josiah the other day he said thay wanted him but he would not take it as he was kinder sick

we have snow anough here yet but we are loosing it fery fast days now it ranes here about all of the time here for the past ten days it begins to look thin in places it was from 4 to 3 feet deep on a level. I do not know as Lavina will have time to write some in this letter or not if not she will write before long I am stoping on the Arsenal yet I can't think of much to write as it makes me feel sleepy to sit down & keep still but I will try to do better next time for when I was in the army I liked good long but then I did not always get them. I have sent 3 or 4 papers but you did not say as you got any I sent one pictorial wages is not any better then thay was last fall men are leting themselves for 30.00 per month on farms I have heard of a number who has done it mecanicks are geting good pay evry thing is coming down even gold & I like to see it do so for it begins to look more fritening it dont seem as if the Joneys could do much more Sherman is useing them up so at every point their courage must fail before long I will close this time by asking you to write so good by for this time
