Dear Uncle
At your request I have dispatched to Washington I received your letter last nite about 6½ oclock I got a man to take my place & started for the city after making all the enquiry I could it was new business to me but thay all told me to send to the State Agent Col Henry A Wooster witch I did in afew words Mr Calwell our last Mayor wrote the dispatch & he understood it it was this is Selden M Dowst of the 4th battery at any Hospital in Washington answer by telegraph to Henry Dowst Augusta Maine & directed to Col Henry A Wooster
Lavina was over today & no answer had come then but she will go over in the morning & if their is any answer she will put it in here to you & if their is no answer I will write as soon as I get an answer or if you warnt me to telegraph again providing I do not get an answer by monday write & so I will get word Monday & I will to any one you think best so goodby
