Alonzo E. Randall was born around 1834 in Maine to Paul and Mary Randall. His father was a farmer who owned $300 of real estate by 1850. He grew up in Dixmont, Maine, and by 1850, he was working as a laborer.
He was drafted into the Union army, and he mustered in as a private in Company I of the 3rd Maine Infantry on August 20, 1863. He was charged with “straggling” on March 2, 1864. Union officials later transferred him to the 17th Maine Infantry and the 1st Maine Heavy Artillery. He mustered out in September 1865.
He settled in Bangor, Maine, after the war, and he earned a living as a farmer. He applied for a federal pension in May 1893 and eventually received one. He never married. He died on October 18, 1911, “after an illness of about four weeks.”
