Henderson Carter Walker
Henderson Carter Walker was born around 1825 in Jackson County, Alabama. He eventually moved to Limestone County, Texas, and he earned a living as a farmer. He served in the Mexican American War. He married a woman named Cinderella, and they had at least three children: Emma, born around 1852; Nancy, born around 1854; and James, born around 1857. They moved to Freestone County, Texas, in the 1850s, and by 1860, he owned $1,000 of real estate and $405 of personal property.
 
He enlisted in the Confederate army on March 15, 1862, and he mustered in as a private in Company B of the 20th Texas Cavalry. According to his service records, he was 5 feet, 3 inches tall, with light hair and blue eyes. He served as a bugler. He received a discharge in July 1862 “by reason of his being over 35 years of age.” He died sometime afterward.
