Dear Brother
I have not written to you in some time and I might I thought I would write a few lines and let you now of my doings and of my health I am in good health at present tomorrow we go into winter quarters it is about time I think but we will not be as well satisfied as we are now I am afraid we have got to go in tents and be all seperated I mean us five the capt has cut a gut I think he has seperated the boys all through the company in the same way but we will have to make the best of it I go in with with one of the sergt and I tell him / we will run that shanty right up to the handle when we get settled I will write and give you the particulars there is two of the men in our company agoing home to recruit in a few days we expect our pay this week and I will send it home with them if we get it I will send it with Sidney Colvin I presume you know him he is one of the men that is agoing home the capt spoke to me about going home but I did not care to go on such business and more than that I have got a good job at work where I am making good wages and I thought if I went home it would cost me a considerable before I got / back we will have work for a long time when we get through where we are at work now we are agoing to george town to work so I heard to day and then I will not be with the regt while I am at work I will not mension any more about that this time when I have any change in my program I will write and tell you there is no news here worth mensioning at presant I did not intend to write but a few lines when I commensed those things you sent us came through all safe I will send you all my sincere thanks for your kindness towards me I hope you will never be any the poarer for it I know I am not for I am as fat as a baer and feel tip top
I guess I will close for this time as I spoke of sending my money home the rest of the boys will send theres with mine I will have it left to Jacob Strauses you may look for it next week some time if we have the good luck to get it when you get it write and let me know as soon as you get it I will send a few lines with Sid when he goes
