Edward Gridley to Brother, June 1864
Philadelphia June [torn] 1864

My dear Brother
I am in this hospital and still continue very feeble which I ascribe to an attack of diarhea and when I am better of that hope to be able to go about at present I am confined to my bed as it is better for me to be quiet. I have had a box of things expressed to you to Clyde—I want you to take them home and take care of them. As soon as I am able to be moved I expect to be transferred to New York state or the doctor says I may go as soon as I am able / I like this hospital much the ladies are very kind to me indeed I think it is better for me to be here than at home, as here the doctor visits me twice a day and I have my wounds washed and dressed twice a day by experienced nurses.

Write to me very soon as it is a great comfort to me to receive letters. Tell W. Braden's folks where I am, give my love to them and tell them to write to me

good bye
My dear Brother
yours affectionately
Edward Gridley /
