Camp Parole Anapolis Nov 2nd 1862
 
Dear Mother
I take this oppertunity to write to you and let you know how I am getting along I expect you are uneasey about me I arrived here about 10 Ock Wensday when about 12 of us reported to the Col commanding the paroled prisnors He asked us were we got our citizens clothes we told him we got them home He seemed to be very angry with us and called for a guard and had us marched off to jail for no other cause that I know of only going home to put on clean clothes we staid in jail 3 days and nights Lt Reinicker got us out yesterday about 3 Ock in the afternoon we then came out to camp and got blankets dress coats shoes stocking and shirts / we expect to get the other things before long we had a first rate time in jail plenty to eat and nice sleeping arangment a great deal better than out here in camp but we were in jail and I did not like it at all and it did me no good for I will come home when ever I can get a chance
 
We expect to get paid off next week (we were musterd yesterday) but for only 2 months unless Cap Gibson sends our descriptive list down if he does we will get 4 months pay I hope he will send them I am in first rate helth and hope you are the same give my love to all at home and keep a good lot for your self and write soon
