Camp Curtin Harrisburgh Aug 6th 1861
 
Mi Dear Sister i take mi pen in hand to let you know that i am midling well at presant but i hope these few lines will find you all well know i must in form you how we are getting a long we ar getting along middling well considderring we all got our new close but they aint half as good as the ones we got in Mt Jackson we ar all going to send our uniforms to and other close wich we dont need home and tell our folks that they can get them any time after they come and i want you to take good care of mi uni form till i come home we expect to leave from here to night for washington / we dont know wether we will go for sure or not we halve lost our Capton but then he is not gon fare from us he was elect Junier Magor and we elect harvy Cooper for Captton i do not like this camp half as well as i did camp wright for it is not half as cleean and not half as plesant but there is amity nice courntry around the camp we all feel very glad to get out of this camp if we get in a better but then i am a fraid that we wont better our selvs for we ar still moving still futher down Southe were it is still warmer give mi respect to all of / the folks tell shades folks that abe is well give mi best respect to aunt margret and all the rest of the folks give mi respects to lee R & tell the boys to take god care of the fliing cloud and fiddle i hant got nothing more at presant but write as soon as you get this letter and dont forget direct your letter camp curtin harrisburgh nothing more Lt Danforth nothing more at presant but remain your brother
