Dear Brother
It has been some time since I recieved your letter I would halve answered it sooner but we halve been on the move most all the time for over a month but had no fighting to do but came very near it we came to this place on last Satterday we came from thorough fair gap that is a long the bull run mountans it raned all day and the roads was very muddy but we got a long very well and we halve been laying heare ever since we got some soft bread yesterday and I tell you it tasted mity good for it is the first / we halve had for some time well Jack I must tell you that I was on the very spot that I was wounded at bull run the place looked very natural there was three kild at the same place they was bured at the same place they fell I was just thinken when I saw them bured there that it was good luck that I got out of that place a live and I thank the lord for it for it was good luck that eny man got out of that place a live well Jack I must tell you that the weather is getting quite cool down hear espicialy after nights it makes a feller lay close to keep warm I cant tell wether we will stay here long or not for it is mity hard to tell what we will do for I cant tell eny / how                     
 
well Jack I had a notion to send home to get a pair of boots maid I want you to ask bill witz how much he will charge to make me a pair of good hip boots long legs up to the neas no red on them red is plaid out in this country you ask him how much he will charge and tell me in your next letter dont get them maid on till you heare from me a gain and when you write to me tell me how much he will charge and then I will tell you wether to get them maid or not
 
tell mat Shaffer if he dont write to me I will kick his ass when I get home for I wrote to him last and I would like to get an answer from him 
 
I will close by sending you all my well wishes  to you all nothing more at presant but remain your
