Dear Brother
I seat my self this afternoon to write you a few lines to let you no how I am getting a long I am getting a long very well at presant am as well as usual cant complain for fear of worse and hoping these few lines may find you all well and hearty
 
            Well Jack I hardly no what to write as there is nothing new a going on heare at presant only that we expect lieut general grant out to this army soon to review it I expect it will be a big day I shal be very glad to see him I halve heard a good deal of / talk a bout him I gess he is a good man
 
            Well Jackson I must tell you that we halve had quite a snow storm out heare a few days a go but is most all gone know it dont last long in these parts there was ten or fifteen inches of snow the most I halve seen in these parts it dont often snow that much down heare
 
            Well Jackson I expect you halve all recoverd of the measles a gainst this time or at least I hope so I think you must of had quite a hard time of it when you all had them at once you cold not make fun of one and other when you all had them at once when you write a gain I want you to tell me how flora is getting a long and tell / me wether she is gay and fat I want you to take good care of her for I want to wride her be fore long for I expect to be home be fore very long a little over four month will put us out of the service it is a good while to think of it but I hope it may soon pass and we may all get through safe I gess I halve told you all I halve to tell you for this time please excuse bad writing and all mestakes I will close by sending you all my well wishes nothing more at presant but remain your affectionate Brother
