Dear Brother
it is with pleasure that I seat my self this afternoon to wright you a few lines to let you no that I am well and hoping these few lines may find you all the same we arived at camp last friday this camp is a bout three miles from Washington it is a very nice place we halve good barreks to stay in and plenty to eat I will bet I halve for I am in the cook house we be long to Co G Seckond regment vet vols teers Corps we got our arms yesterday brand splinterd new ones I feel mity proud of mine / for I sat it up in the corner and it set there yet and I gess it will sit there for some time for I dont want to use it very bad
 
Well I hardly no what to wright for I hant seen or herd much yet so you will get a short letter this time I suppose that the sprees and singens and wrighting schools are a going on the same as they was be fore we left I would kind a like to be back to go to some of them but how some ever it is as it is and we cant mak it eny [?] well I gess I halve told you a bout all I halve to tell you this time 
 
            the boys are all well that came from them parts I want you to wright as soon as you get this and tell me all the news
