Dear Brother
I halve a few leasure moments this evning and I will try and make use of them by wrighting to you this is Sunday and it was a very nice day and prety warm and it makes us boys feel very lazy but I gess we will haft to worit some how for I think it will be a good deal warmer be fore long for I heard the old cannon boom to day but they was a good ways off if they never get eny closer I will be very well satisfied we lay about ten miles from winchester / I dont no where our next stopping place will be we came heare from harpers ferry tow days a go we had a very hard march it was a wet day and it was rather muddy but one thing was in our favor we had the turn pike to march on and the mud was not very deep there is only two regments here that is the first and seckond but you bet that they are old ones we are in the Shennandoah valley it is by far the nicest country that ever I seen in virginna it is a very nice country but there is scarcly eny farming done heare it is coming spring very fast the fields are getting green and the peach trees out in full bloom I expect they will be ripe in a few days / well I gess I halve told you all for this time for it is getting dark and you will haft to do with a short letter this time the boys that come with me are all well and getting a long with the best of them with this I will close by sending my best respects to all
