            Dear Brother
I seat my self this after noon to answer your very kind and welcom letter wich I recieved last night and was very glad to heare from you all once more for it has been a good while since you wrote to me be fore I am well and hoping that these few lines may find you all enjoying the same blesing
 
            Well Jack you will see by this letter that we halve been on the move a gain we are in a very nice place and we halve nothing to do and and plenty to eat and halve our quarters in a big brick house and there is only sixteen of us heare and we are halving a buly time and if we haft / to stay in the service on till our time is out I would like to stay heare it is wright on the line of new york and vermont wright on the bank of Lake Champlain a buly place for scoting in the winter time and I think it will soon be winter for it has been snowing all day I think it will be a good day for rabbits to morrow I can shoot one with my gun a bout three or four miles all I want to see of them is the tip of the nose and then they are my meet how are you rabbits or eny other war
 
            Well Jack I wont wright much for I halve a good meny letters to wright and I will haft to make them short there is only four of in one room and it is a big one / abe rhodes and I sleeps to gether and we halve a fiddle a piece and we do some big playing you bet we do tell Eaf not to be in a hurry a bout writing to me tell him that there is lots of time and there is no use of crowding the thing no not a bit of use in it
 
            Well I gess this is a bout all I halve to wright this time you will please excuse a short letter this time and I will try and do better the next time nothing more at presant but remain your Brother as ever
